My friend spotted this in the trees on the muzz hunt.

wow wrong place at the wrong time that would be cool to see is the rest of the rack under the tree

It looks to actually be a cool non-typical buck and the bucks right side is still there. If you look close you can see 3 points on the right side. One looks to be an eye guard and, and one point goes down along the side of his head while the third forks off and goes along side the eye guard. That would make a very unique mount if the DWR would allow you to take it home.

I think you are right about that. The rack does not appear to be broken. I think it grew that way. Very good find!

I think I'll try to get it next summer when we go back up there to scout. BTW, this buck was found only a few hundred yards from the dead elk ( it's in the "Elk shed?" post)sawtooth found up there.
