How NOT to clear an obstruction!!!
How NOT to clear an obstruction!!!
This fella came into the store today to replace the barrel on his Remington 11-87. Not such an odd occurance, right?
Well, once we saw the barrel we understood WHY he wanted to replace it, aside from the fact that it didn't have screw in chokes. Seems he somehow poked the barrel into some mud and got just a tad bit of mud into the bore.
I'm going to assume he tried to clean it out with his finger or a stick or by some other method. When he got as much of the gunk out of the barrel as he could he did what most folks would never do. Rather than remove the barrel to get the rest out he decided to remove the rest by shooting the shotgun (in a safe direction, I'm sure) and took special measure to hold it out away from his body and turn his head away.
Here are the results (sorry for the crappy cell phone pics):

It ain't the size of the gun but the placement of the bullet.

You know what they say.

I dont know, looks to me like a big rabbit put its finger in the barrel and thats how it happened. I bet his face turned black from the blast as well. You gotta watch out for those rabbits out there guys!

Not sure he should be replacing the barrel, he may want to think about another hobby.
