Since I could start hunting, 5 years ago I have used my Ruger Mark II 7mm Mag for almost every kill, very flat shooting and plenty of power for anything in north america. I used a .50 cal. muzzle loader on a cow elk also. I just bought a Marlin .450 leveraction which i'm looking forward to using. With the lever-action i'm gonna keep it all 'traditional', with open sights and the whole bit. Those 300gr. bullets pack a pretty big wallop though

lifetime gun !
I was given a remington model 600 in 6mm remington on my 10th birthday. it seems tha day I was born in 1967 my grandfather went and bought that gun just for me. it sat in the cosmoline and a box for 10 years untouched until my 10th b-day. that was 1977. I have owned this gun since then, 30 years, and have taken 28 of my beloved MULE DEER, and 2 coues deer, 18 javelinas, a corsican ram, and 4 antelope. I only ever shoot the factory remington ammo. it is the 100 grain pointed soft point core lokt, or the 100 gr pspcl. I love this gun. the day my son turned 10 in september 2002 I handed him an exact duplicate remington model 600 in 6mm for him to cherish. although I could not go buy a new one back in 1992 when he was born, I could look online and find a good one for him. I ended up buying one from a gun shop in washington state, that guy had 5 of these hard to find hunting guns on hand. so hopefully the two of us will continue to harvest our animals with these same rifles for many years to come ! good luck !
saying "guns kill people" is like saying "the spoon made rosie fat"
