2002 was a bad year for deer. Water was realy in short supply. Also it was realy hot. Notice the difference in the coat of the deer on the left. Could it have CWD?

Tys, if he told you he would be breaking rule #1 of hunting. NEVER give away a good hunting spot. I don’t think they’re sick. Their horns are still covered in velvet and I think they are just "shedding".

Apparently you guys dont get out much during the archery season. The deer on the right is loosing his summer coat. Poor water conditions would add to the underdevelopment of the antlers. The two on the left have lost their summer coat and have slicked out. Mule deer have two different stages of hair during the year. Long and uninsulated summer hair (makes for an ugly mount) and short hollow hair to insulate for the colder seasons (most mounts are done with winter capes)

Kody and others are correct. These deer are perfectly fine, look perfectly normal for this time of year. Have many pics of deer that look the same. Nothing wrong with them at all. Great picture!

kdoy is right they have two coats and a summer coat is ugly there not sick the one on the right is just shedding its hair and the other ones have already

Thats the truth I have a 28 inch wide 4 point buck taken from oregon during archery season got em opening day and he hadnt completly lost his summer coat and had all his velvet pretty mount but not as pretty if he were in his winter coat all muleys are gorgeous animals no matter what time the season though.
