Should be fine i think i would go with the 4-12 with the AO and ballistic retical.I have an old leupold vari-x 3 3.5-10-50 on mine.

what grain slugs do you normally shoot? I am reloading 165 grain accubonds in mine. Do 180's shoot a little better?

skinner, what kind of velocities are you getting with 150 grainers, them ought to be smokin!!

I shoot a Mark V in .300wby and could never get 150's to group worth a darn. They were extremely fast though!!
Now i shoot the 180gr ballistic tips at 3350 fps and shoot tight 3 shot groups.
Contrary to what some people beleive, the ballistic tips perform very good on both deer & elk. :thumb

I think the average velocities were 3'545fps.On a good day when im steady and calm my rifle will shoot 1/4 or less group's realy depend's on me at 100 yard's.I tryed imr 7828 and inr 4831 used a cci 250 magum primer finaly ended up with imr4350 a 9 1/2m rem primer don't remember my overall cartrige lenth would have to look it up.

You gotta love a good 300 Ultra Mag. Mine seems to like the middle weight bullets. 165 & 180gr work super. The 200grainers are no slouches either. I never tried the 150. I figured it would be the ultimate long range bullet though. The velocities people are getting with the 150 are impressive.

I know this is about the 300 UltraMag, but is anyone using the 7MM UltraMag for deer & elk?

I just got my 300 RUM, and shot it for the first time at the Rifle Range.
Its made by Kirby Allen (APS Rifles) from Ft. Shaw, Mt
kballen@3rivers.net

The Load Data he gave me:
200 Grain Nosler Accubonds
95.0 Grains Retumbo (3250 fps)
Remington Brass
CCI 250 Primers
Seated 3.725"

I shot a 1.5" group at 200 Yards, (I feel I can Do Better with a Better Rest/Sled)
Then proceeded to make first round hits at 400 and 600 Yards on 10" Steel Plates.
1000 Yard Hits on the Steel Plates will Be No Problem. Practice on the Bench, and
then in Field Positions is the key!!
