Now, before I start this, let me say that I have been guilty of this myself, although more with fish than big game. We all know how to make the rack bigger of whatever critter we happen to have been lucky enough to get down. I see it more with elk photos than deer, but this is what really gets me. A person has a nice critter, and to try to fool everyone, they sit all the way behind the animal and have the photographer take a close up of the rack. Makes for a huge looking rack, but come on! I appreciate any animal for itself, no need to OVER exaggerate the size of the rack. I haven't seen it a lot on this site, but another site I visit it seems to be the norm. A 140 class muley made to look like the next world record. Seems there are a few folks out there who do get tricked. I learned this trick when I brought my first deer to the taxidermy. He had a pic on his desk of the largest 5 point elk I had ever seen in my life! Much bigger than just about every 6+ point bulls I had ever seen. Then he made the mistake of saying it was the one mounted right behind him. It was still a nice bull but not even close to what was portrayed in the pic. I would rather see a huge smile on the hunter with his/her hands ON the rack rather than sitting way back on the rear end and the pic being taken right at the nose. Just wanted to vent my frustrations over this. And, yes, I realize a lot of guides and outfitter do this soley to attract new clients.

Guess the intention is what it's all about, to have fun and make your buddy or family member think you got a monster, heck that's kinda fun in and of itself. Just don't get to carried away. :thumb
