~ Thank you shed horn goddess ~

I have been scouting 11 bulls the past couple weeks and seen one the other night had dropped. I ran up there tonight and couldnt find anything but fresh sign. It was getting dark and thought Id better get going before Id have to crawl off the steep hill in the dark. I crested a ridge and looked over to see a fresh 6pt brown shed.. I had a perma grin.. I called my mom to meet me at the bottom of the canyon and about 25 yards away I spotted the matching side. I was so excited I almost dropped my phone!
Its nice to finally find some decent sheds after all the miles ive put in so far this year and really havent found anything worth while...
Hes not a monster but he is a decent bull for around here.. Not bad for a short fat girl ay??
Now if I can find his other buddies he was hanging out with Id be a happy little shed hunter.. They put him to shame.. Well see what Sat brings..
Oh by the way.. Whenever I find a shed I always thank the shed horn goddess.. It seems to help lol

Just got back from my 8 mile holy steep hill hike.. Last week the bulls were about 200 yards off the hwy in everyones view and then they vanished 2 days ago.. I found em today about 5 miles away and of course they are still packing both sides
But thats a good thing, nobody can get to them now! hopefully they stay put..
I always manage to find strange things while out hiking.. I was at the top of the ridge on a elk trail and found 3 old shovels, a chainsaw case, a old canteen, metal poles for a tent, a ratchet set(scattered). all in about 2 miles within eachother.. What in the world were they doing clear up there (???)
I did find last years 4 pt elk horn and a spike.. Didnt luck out today but did explore some new country..

Cant be.. These were on top of the mountain, they had to of hiked up there, was at least 4 miles away from any road.. (???)

I would say firefighters. I have ran into that kind of stuff before and it was stuff that firefighters had left behind on their way to or from the fire. Nice sheds by the way!!!

I was wondering where I had left my tools. Would you mind taking me back up to where I had left them? Don't worry I won't look for any elk that might be in the area that might be ready to drop their antlers.

Sure wish I could see the photos here at work. Sounds like a good couple of trips out. It's good to hear that the elk are starting to drop. I glassed a couple of good 6x6's a couple of miles up on a southern facing slope. They're gone now but at least I have a place to start hiking from.

Thanks for all your comments! Its snowing here, we have about 3 inches and supposed to hit all week.. I wish they would start droping faster.. Its killin me to watch them every day and still see them packing. Im itching to get out and pick up more sheds..

Yes I do cover alot of ground, High and low..
haa haa Ive often thought about just shed hunting every day and seeing if I could manage. It sure would be fun! I try to go every night after work and weekends all day and usually cover up to 10 miles. But most of my country is steep.
Gets tiring lol

Great finds.Myself and Nonya went out this last weekend and found some last years sheds and found 4 big bulls still packing both sides,but there in a place where nody will see them as long as they stay close to where they are now.Excellent job on the finds 10sign:

FIRST OFF I'M A RETARD AND JUST NOTICED YOUR POST!

Just to let you all know, on our last trip out AOW and I hiked our keesters off and she found a few really nice ones and I struck out, then I go to Wyoming this last weekend to look for more muleys, found about 12 white ones on Saturday...figured okay I feel better about myself, was pretty proud of the day! So being saddle sore, I head over to the Cowboy in Jackson to have a beer and what happens?! AOW shoots me this text with this massive elk rack that doesn't even fit in the window of my phone! Needless to say, I choked on my beer, and my "12 white golds" completely lost their value.

I continued to drink.

But I am very proud of ya girl you know that!! AOW does cover alot of ground, she's a freakin mountain goat and definatley earns everything she picks up! :not-worthy

OH AND YOU DON'T NEED TO THANK ME AOW :)) JK

Great job AOW =D> , I havent even been out looking for elk yet. But they are usually in the same area year after year. My cousin seen them in their a week ago but they were heading higher following the deep snow line. So, after this weekend on deer have to start on the elk bone.
