1 in a Million Buck - FREAK

Okay I named him "Black Magic" for obvious reasons. This is the ONLY deer I've ever laid eyes on that is black. I mean black, BLACK!

He is a complete FREAK of nature, I have no idea why he is this way???

I'll do some research, but he is UNBELIEVABLE! There is a long story behind the pics, had a complete blast filming him. Lot of hard work, but persistence paid off. :thumb

His bases are the MOST massive I've ever seen. His antlers grow completely together. I guessed his bases at over 10 inches. He is no little buck either, he will push the 30 inch mark from cheater to cheater.

Hope you enjoy!

gotta be a retouched photo or fungus or something

Retouched photo? Huh! Are you kidding me?

Fungus maybe, not sure why or what would do this to the antlers.
But this is the real deal, very odd and unique for sure.

Cactus buck maybe? I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert (That's why I hang out with you all) but it sure looks like one to me.

It took me a minute but I might have figured it out. :-k If it was in the southern part of the state then there is a good chance that he is a downwinder from the nuclear tests that they carried on in Nevada. This would help explain that over the years what just a little genetic mutation can devlope into. :))

Muleymadness,
Great photos, that deer would be one to keep your eye on, even if just to see what he looks like when and if he looses the velvet, or whatever that is on his horns. I would be interested to see if he remains like that or looses it.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. If I had to guess, I would say a steer.

Thats one weird lookin buck!! looks kind of like a fungus or somthing growing on the velvet because his eye guards look normal and you can see little spots of normal velvet. if it is it might just come off if he scrapes the velvet and turn out to be a normal lookin deer. thats my theroy, but who know have to wait and see

Don't have a tag. :>/

Sorry, man I wish I did. I put on a 3 hour stalk to get this video, worked out perfect. It's been 4 weeks since I've been out, and the archery hunt has been in full swing for a while.

Oh well, it was fun seeing him when I did. Won't get a chance to go try and find him again either. If he is still roamin the hills?
