1st Trail Cam Check 2008 - 7/28/08

Been a slow year for me this year, lost my best cam last year. In process of building a couple of more.

My "SWEET SPOT" from last year dried up. Managed to get these so far.

Brett

Haven't found any "BIG BOYS" yet, but I'm not done trying. :)

I know the fence shot is bad, but I thought it was cool and looks to be a nice buck.

Very nice. I love the last one. "Father & Son"

I like the first one myself. To catch a picture like that your camera would have to have a good trigger speed. I think that anybody would be hard pressed to get a picture like that one. Great job Brett. =D>

Hopefully you find another sweet spot for this year. I am sure you will. Those are some cool pics. You always come up with a way of getting good shots. Really enjoy your photos. Thanks!!!

The fact that the pic of the deer jumping the fence is not a blur amazes me. If a deer moves at all on my camera flash or not, it's just a blur. As always, cool pics and thanks for sharing.

These are home built cameras, might be the reason they aren't blurred?

Brett, these are some AWESOME pictures. The last one I can't help but see the fictional store of Bambi come to life. Thanks :not-worthy

What is the simple answer to how much a custom built one would cost?

Simple answer is 210 dollars or so, depending on how much you get the camera for off EBAY.

WOW, pretty darn good for pics like that! If you care to embellish; how many components are there? Motion sensor trigger, case, battery, camera and card??? Would you mind posting some pics of such a contraption? I am intrigued? Is this major operation to hook a trigger to a camera or special camera (I guess that question would be easier to answer than getting pics as the equipment is likely in use now)?

The tough part is tearing apart the camera and wiring it to work as a Trail Cam, it's a bit tedious and requires good eyesight and hands. It's a bit tricky I won't lie, but if you can get that part the rest its EASY. Just a matter of putting it together.

On page 2 it has some 'gear' you'll need to 'get er done'

Brett how is the battery life for this camera? Does it just use the normal AA batteries that go in the camera or do you change this somehow? I like to leave my cameras up at least 2 to 3 weeks in cold weather before I check them.

Yes 1 9 volt battery and 2 Double AA. THey usually last 2-3 weeks or more depending on amount of pics at night.
