I recently bought a dozen new arrows for the season. I went from 2" vanes to 3" vanes by mistake, mis measured ( I know thats what she said) but what will the change in 1" do to my arrow flight at close and longer ranges???
thanks

Your vanes shouldnt fly a whole lot different. Last year i practiced with both 3" and 2" vanes and couldnt see much of a difference. The 3" vanes just have a little more area where a crosswind could affect it but it also keeps it a little more stable with good wind conditions or with no wind. I wouldnt worry a whole lot about it!

I would agree with Archer11. The only thing I would worry about is crosswind steering your arrow. Hopefully you don't have a pencil-thin small diameter arrow (Easton Axis, etc.) because that would just look silly.

I shoot expedition hunter gold tips with 100 grain rage broadheads

only way to find out is get out and try it.... i mean that seems kinda obvious but for some it could not make a difference, for you it could make contact where the 2's didnt.....

I shot them. I do like the way they penetrate at longer distances (3") and in a cross wind or any wind, you really have to adjust for that but I do like the way they group actually.

I wouldn't think you'd see a big difference short range, but it will change your front of center a bit, putting more weight on the tail. You could compensate for it by using lighter nocks. Shoot them and see if the point of impact is much lower. I don't think they will be that different.
