Here's the buck I ended up shooting from the Paunsagaunt hunt this year. It's about time I drew out! I had 8 points.
Anyway, with full time school and work, I didn't have a lot of time to hunt, and I ended up with this buck.
He's 25 inches, a strait four point. His back right fork isn't really big. I shot at another nice four point, but missed ](*,) Dang scope! :)
I saw a real nice four or 5 point opening morning, but from about 800 yards, and never saw him again! There were hunters everywhere it seemed. They need to close the ol Pauns. for 5 years, as from what I saw the deer population isn't very great, in spite of what they say. IMHO
So I'm pretty happy with the buck I got, considering all. He's not a monster, but I sure had fun hunting! Thats what keeps be going back every single year, it's just plain fun. Hows everybody else doing?

can't complain there, at least I wouldn't think so! Thats a pretty good deer! I was always under the influence that the Paun. was a super hard area to draw and if you did draw you would be one of few that drew. with that being said, i am surprised that you saw alot of hunters. what is the size of the unit and to your knowledge how many tags are offered for this area. just curious i guess.
needless to say, congratulations on a fine animal and looking forward to sharing stories and photos from my hunt, which i leave for tomorrow evening.
I'll see if I can figure out how many tags were given, as you pricked my interest! Any rate, thanks, and gook luck tomorrow!
We saw a few other 4-points, none of which were much bigger than this one. Unfortunatley he bagged this buck when I wasn't there. :(
Here are a couple of pics from a couple of bucks we chased or that ran by me with the video camera.
same buck as previous
3x4
BOHNTR )))------------->
anyways i will be signing off for a couple weeks as of today so i will check in and hopefully have some good photos when i return.
Great question and I didn't realize how similar these two bucks were until you mentioned it. However, it isn't the same buck. Was killed within 10 miles of the buck in the photo though. Same type genetics obviously.

Think we'll be putting in for the muzzleloader hunt in 2005. What part of the unit did you hunt in?
Man with that many NR points he has to be getting real close? I had 8 resident points when I drew the tag 2 years ago. We usually hunt the northern end of the Paunsaugunt, but have been all over.
Great buck congrats
