So where's everyone planning on going? What states are you applying for? Here's my list so far:
1. UTAH-archery pauns. tag (probably won't draw)
2. COLORADO-archery Mule Deer (will definately draw-primary hunt)
3. OREGON-Mule Deer bonus point only
4. ARIZONA-Mule Deer strip, and archery Elk. (probably more points)
5. CALIFORNIA-Two archery tags (blacktail), I'll get more points for Tule Elk & desert bighorn sheep.
I'll be chasing monster muleys for two weeks in CO the end of August and first part of September. If I'm drawn for AZ elk, I'll be chasing them for a few weeks the end of September. Of course in October, I'll be hunting my home state for those blacktails. Then in January, I'll be back hunting desert mule deer in Arizona's desert. What's everyone elses plans?

Archery Deer(of course!!!) General tag-dedicated hunter
Turkey- Coming up 4/18 (going for em with a bow)
Black Bear- If I get drawn, April 9th Spring (also Archery)
2. Colorado-Late "any-weapon" 3rd season deer around Montrose
3. Nevada-Archery elk and deer in SE if I can draw (probabaly not!!)
4. Arizona-Archery elk (points :) ) and possibly archery deer (again dependant on the draws elsewhere)
If I go to Alaska (depending on how I fair on the draws down here) I'd love to tote my bow up there and go on a moose/black bear hunt. If I go I'll be up there for a month "working" so why not give it a try?? Shoulda put in for WY and NM though too! Oh well, from my limited knowledge I've got my priorities straight! :arrow

You are not putting in for wyoming this year, I thought you put in here every year!
As for me;
1. Speed goats, hopefully if I can draw, seems to be getting harder than drawing a stinkin' deer or elk tag in wyoming.
2. Put in to get my preference point for both moose and sheep, wishful thinking I guess!!!!
3. Will be putting in for deer and elk in one of the limited quota areas in the state, not sure where but as a resident I still have a couple weeks to decide.
Was going to put in for one of the combination (deer-elk) tags in montana but my buddy that lives there found out a couple months ago his wife is pregnant and she is due right during hunting season so those plans went out the window. Pretty excited for them none-the-less! They are having a baby girl! So my out of state plans were halted before they even had a chance to become anything.
His wife told him though that since he has to cancel all plans this next season she would let him go on a "specialty hunt" in 2006. So our brains and daydreaming has been kicked into high gear. I have always wanted to take a lion, although I am not a big fan of treeing a poor cat it seems about the only truely successful way to take a cat. Neither one of us have really much interest in hunting bears or pigs or caribou or anything else we have decided a lion hunt would be sweet. We have to keep it with in reason, first thought was a trip to alaska to hunt a dall sheep or something and she put her foot down immediately with those plans. My buddy actually has another buddy that runs some hounds so hopefully things will come together for that.
How you doing bud? Yeah, I know I should have put in this year. The only thing was, I didn't have enough time to bowhunt all the areas I'm going already heading to. Plus, they didn't offer preference points this year in the cowboy state like I had hoped for. So, I'll probably put in next year. You guys finally getting some wet weather up there? My in-laws are still way under the normal snow-pack in the Laramie area.
There are rumors that are flying around saying that wyoming will finally join the res of the western states and offer preference points for deer and elk starting in 2006. I have heard mixed rumors though, some are saying this will only apply to non-residents, and I have heard it will apply for both residents and non alike. All I have to say for it is IT IS ABOUT TIME!!!!!
I planned a trip to Kemmerer, WY. the other week to participate in the annual game and fish meeting there, but due to work restraints I was unable to go. Apparently the hot topic was turning a couple areas in the southeast into limited quota but because of the popularity of the two units many people that rely on these areas for general permits are throwing a fit. I don't know, I feel for both sides! As a trophy hunter I would like to see them turn the entire state into limited quota no matter the species, but then again what would I do during the year if i didn't draw anything.
The past few weeks we have received more snow than the entire winter prior! So I fear the worst for the spring run-off this year. All you can do is keep an open mind and hope for the best for the animals, mother nature can be a beast! This past weekend I spent on the ski hill watching the annual national championship snow machine hill climbs, it was a pretty good time and the weather was nice but the days prior it was snowy and cold and no sooner were they over and it snowed some two or three inches. I believe the southern part of the state has been pretty dry all year, I really haven't left Jackson since Christmas so I am not positive though.
Sounds like you are going to have a good season, hope everything plays out as you plan! Two more weeks and we will be in the hills hunting for sheds, national forest lands are shut down for the elk migration until May 1st and then the scouting season starts. Looking forward to that.
This past winter my roommate and I found a pretty good deer and since he has yet to take a deer I promised I would do whatever it takes to help him take a good deer this year. Depending on the growing season, this buck will be real close to going minimum B & C. We are planning alot of scouting this summer so if I don't draw I hope I will have a deer picked out long before season even rolls around! Also, hoping to buy a new pick-up this late spring early summer. The goal is by the end of June, my last truck lost a transmission this past summer and just couldn't afford to buy a new one so I have been driving around in a car, YUCK!!!!!!
anyways will by a busy spring and summer for me and looking forward to the camping and fishing and scouting. Good luck with the draws and I will talk to you later.
But I can't complain, I hunted the Paunsy couple years ago.
I hope to get some good pictures and footage this year out there.

How you been? Yeah, I've picked a number between 8 & 10. :) I will definatley draw for CO mule deer though, so I'll at least be chasing some critters early in the season.

Now that I know I didn't draw in Utah, I just want an Elk tag here in Arizona. [-o<

I drew a Southern Region Rifle tag (5 day hunt) so at least I know I;ll get to carry a rifle with a tag in my pocket this Fall.

Good luck to everyone else in the drawings.
