338 win mag suggestions????

so my brother hands me his 338 win mag and says "here, make me some nice hunting loads"

well..... It's a tikka 26", the trigger feels nice, the stock/bedding/float seems near perfect, but there aint much of a recoil pad on it!!!! #-o

so first thing I'm gonna do is install a limbsaver pad... then I'll work on some loads :thumb

I'm thinking I'll start with some 200 grain accubonds.... or does anybody have any other suggestions?

I have some H4831 and some IMR4350 that should work fine

anybody have any pet loads or advice for this cartridge?

Give the Hornady interbonds a try too.

Once you go lead free you won't go back! I would suggest trying the Barnes TSX.

I've had horrible accuracy results with every box of barnes I've tried, swore I'd never buy another box.

Try the barnes.I shoot them in all my calibers 243,25-06,280,7mm,30-06,300 short and 300 win and have excellent results with all of them.Best bullet on the market (IMO) :thumb

I would have to recommend the barnes also but if you don't want them then I would go say the nosler accubonds are a good choice. I have a friend who swears by the swift A-frames or Sciroccos though too. All of these are good choices for a big Magnum imo.

the gun likes 180 accubonds...... :thumb

however I've discovered a problem with the scope rings :>/

looks like the installer got a little confused with the ring recoil lug on this tikka ](*,)

parts on the way! =D>
