WOW! Like I stated in another thread, I really love the cat pics!

I believe that's the first time I've seen two in one trailcam though!

Hey Brett, Is it time to declare this the year of the cat?
Those are some really cool pictures.
Do you think that they are coming into the salt too? Or just looking for the deer that have been there.
I love it. Keep them copming.

I know this is a dumb question and please forgive my ignorance. But we dont have any big cats like that here and i was wondering if thoes cats are something to be concerned about while you are out hunting ?

I am sure they could do some serious damage to a hunter but for the most part would'nt they run off if you were to encounter one out hunting ?

I was wondering this just in case i ever get to hunt in country that has big cats like that.

nah i wouldnt worry about it. theres always a possibility but not a big chance of being attacked

Roybram, it's not a dumb question at all. In fact, there is a thread in another forum discussing this exact thing (see link below).

The vast majority of us would agree (At least according to the thread) that the cats do pose a threat...but really no more than most other wild animals. Additionally, the chances of ya being attacked are very slim. In fact, the vast majority of cougar attacks are caused by 1) Gettin' too close to a momma and/or her young, 2) Encountering a sick or wounded cougar that can no longer effectively hunt it's normal prey, or 3) A cat that feels that it's only escape is to attack.
Bottom line, I have seen plenty of cats before and I can tell ya...the ones I've come across didn't want to have anything to do with me... and took off the moment they figured out that I was around. I keep my wits about me but do not cause myself any extra worry because I am in cat country. Some folks feel differently but that's my thoughts on it.

Here's the link to the original discussion regarding cougars. You'll find some actual numbers pertaining to attacks in that thread.

AGCHAWK, i see what you are talking about. After reading the discussion on big cats i can see where they should be treated with respect.

about the only thing you need to keep on your toes about in cat country is which side of the tree your standing on... they got some stinky piss and love to share it with us humans :)

Very cool. Took my kids to the zoo last week and we were looking at the cougars, better to see them in the wild. Great pics.
