Hi guys,
I'm gonna try my luck at posting a few pics I took last fall when I caught some bighorns down low during the rut... hope this works.

Great photos of some fantastic BH Rams! What area did you take the photos in? State, Province?
I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. I'm fairly sure this bunch never wanders into a huntable unit. They aren't tame by any means but mountain lions provide them far more excitement than any other predator...
thanks for the nice words!
WOW!! Fantastic pictures, thanks for taking the time to register and share those with us. Love the photos! :thumb
Late October/early november is cool because the rams are sort of tending the ewes. They are in mingle mode. As the rut heats up they start lip curling and head banging and just after the peak of the rut I can't get a pic of them standing still. They are bird dogging ewes like crazy chasing them around the canyon and through the river. Its cool to see but hard to get good photos of.
I really like to photograph wildlife but keep in mind, these will usually be dumb animals with no pressure. If I ever post something really wild in an area that's huntable you'll know. First I'll tell you and secondly it probably won't be a great pic... :)
Thanks for the welcomes. Its good to have a place to hang out.
I'm using a Nikon D70S. I picked it up last summer and since then I've had as much fun chasing game around with it as I have my muzz. The seasons a little longer too... :))
I work in Littleton, CO and those sheep are 15 minutes from my office!
I spend a decent amount of time on the road from Denver to Glenwood and these rams are probably the best I've seen.
Here's another good one from that canyon. Nice flair.
I drove up to Alaska in May of 06 and stopped at "Sheep My" up on Kulane Lake and watched sheep for several hours. Also used to drive up to Prudoe Bay and right on top of the Brooks Range would see lot's of sheep. Nothing stop's me faster or hold's me longer than sheep.
Me and the wife are heading up to Alaska summer of 2008. I can't wait!
Be sure and stop at Teslin on the way up. The best photo of a moose I've ever seen is in the restuarant. right next door is a museum, mounted animals and they are beautiful. Trying to remember where I saw the Woodland Buffalo at, somewhere between Teslin and
Whitehourse I think. Hope your taking a camp trailer of some kind. Everything up there is expensive. Plenty of roadside pull out's where you can camp tho. After Fort St John, fuel really take's a hike. Goes back down pretty good at Border Crossing, just inside Alaska.
Some really nice shops if you like rustic. My favorite was Toad Crossing in No. British Columbia.
Here's a Woodland Buffalo. Biggest thing I ever saw:
About 20 mi south of Watson's Lake on Cassiar Hwy coming back:
I think this one was between Tok and Border Crossing:
about 200 mi south of Watson Lake:
West of Tok a short way:
Also saw plenty of Caribou and many more moose but it was May and not many Antler's. A couple other wolves but I wasn't fast enough and some Fox, one Silver Fox. Will did out a photo of Sheep Mt later if you want to see it.
Very important. Now you need a certified birth cert. to get back into the US. 2008 you'll need a pasport. No pasport and they hold you there while they do paper work on you and then charge you $500 a head. We are teaching the illegal's that if they want to come into our country, they have to walk around the border stations.
I'm afraid that next year will be a fly in trip. My parents may drive up and meet us there but we won't have time to make the drive up. I hope we run into some good photo subjects.
My wife was up there last month with work but it was 37 below zero so she didn't get out much...

I used to have a pic that someone emailed me of a HUGE ram that used to live behind a gas station on the edge of town. They said he was so tame that a few folks were able to score him on the hoof. I guess he finally died of old age.
