A fortunate year

This is my first post on this site and I hope all turns out well. I was invited by MuleyMadness to share this buck with you all here on the forums.

He is a public land buck shot in some thick brush just south of Cedar City, UT. I found him only about 600 yards from one of the few water sources in the area. I jumped him from his bed and shot him at 60 yards with a Ruger muzzleloader. He was in great shape and had a 1-2” layer of fat all over his back and rump. He is 27” wide and is only a 3 point. His mass is impressive, but apparently he carries the gene for 3 points instead of the normal 4. I shared this hunt with my father who was as excited as I was. I hope you all enjoy.

Fantastic buck Mark! :thumb

Thanks for sharing! It's tough to find a 3-point that big. Good job!

Sweet.....congrats on a great buck! How do you like your Ruger muzzleloader? I have heard some good things about them.

Touch 'em all
I have never shot a more accurate muzzleloader and it was that way the first day I pulled it out of the box. It is very similar in style to the M77 rifles from Ruger. I bought it because a buddy of mine was raving about his and I couldn't have made a better choice. The only gripe I have is that I used to use a red-dot site, but the Ruger scope rings fit very few types of red-dot scopes. Other than that I love it! I enjoy the muzzleloader hunts and have had a lot more success finding quality bucks than with a rifle.
