A great buy

I few months back I was shooting pool in a local bar. A guys was talking about this shotgun he want to sell. He said he didn't hunt and its been sitting in a closet. We talked for awhile and he told me it was a beretta side by side. I told him to go get the weapon so I could look at it. It was a 1954 Beretta 12ga in perfect condition. We started talking about price he wanted $800 for it but I ended up talking him down to $600. We took it down to the range the next day I fired 1 shot from each barrel and paid him for it. I had no clue what this weapon was worth. I took it to a gun store where I buy most of my guns and the owner told me he would give me $2000 cash or $2500 store credit. I about ---- my pants. I didn't trade or sell it I decided to keep it. I still have no idea what it is worth but will never use it to hunt with but it sure is nice to look at. Maybe when I get home I will get it appraised but I am just happy to find a buy like that.
