A poaching story

My brother in law and I were out the other evening scouting some roost areas when he spotted a deer carcass in a patch of timber. He went to go check it out reminding me of a conversation we had with a wildlife officer about a string of poaching in this exact area not more than month ago. He jumps back in the truck and says "yep poached, they cut the skull cap off and left the rest to rot" he then said " and I know who did it!". I looked at him funny and with a big grin he holds up a cell phone that apparently the poacher had dropped in his hast to remove the antlers.
Anyway, he calls the Game thief hotline and as he explains he found a poached deer they sounded almost entirely uninterested until he mentioned the cell phone. Within a short while we had two game officers at the house that were excited and anxious about getting their hands on the cell phone.
It will be interesting to see what comes of it.
