all in all a great season

This year I had the chance to see my son take his first deer (with a muzzle loader) and my wife take her first deer (rifle) along with my wife’s first deer cam my first 4 point. He is no trophy monster but I was proud of it. I got him at 250 yards one shot one kill. My wife on the other hand had buck fever so bad she emptied her gun at 200 yards with her deer standing broad side then I gave her mine and she emptied mine. One bullet hit its mark with her shots, though we did not know it at the time. Her deer along with another buck in tow ran 500 yards and hid in a ravine we did not know was there. I reloaded both guns (because my wife was crying and shaking so bad) and told my wife to quit crying she still had a chance. We started to the ravine and by the time we got there she had regained herself. As we popped over the hill the two bucks started down the ravine. My wife’s buck jumped the other side and came up 50yrds big mistake because baby wasn't missing again. She shot and the buck dropped. Then my ears started ringing because she let out the loudest scream in my ears as she grabbed me and gave me a rib breaking hug.
Here are some pictures of our two firsts.

Here is the story for my son.
we woke up at 6am got ready and road hunted to my friends pasture there have been a number of deer using his field as a crossing point between the sagebrush and the corn fields. As we start heading that way I spot a nice 2 point on a hill side we got out and made a stock. My son got within 60 yds and shot. Clean miss but that deer got the heck out of there. So we got back in the truck and headed to my buddies place. We get set up just around 8:00 am I just finished getting his muzzle loader loaded when Kyle said "Buck" I handed him his gun and looked to see the biggest damn buck standing 100 yards down the corn field. He bounded over the fence into our field. And froze I told Kyle to get ready. Boom the deer still standing there looking at us. (miss)
I grab the muzzle loader again and as fast as I can reload. Just about the time I get the ball down the buck takes off back into the corn never to be seen again. I get the primer on but I’m in no hurry now. Just as I get it on Kyle say's “another buck dad" this buck came out of the sage and was heading looking to see what the other deer ran from. I gave Kyle the muzzle loader again and this time he has to get it I think. 65yrd I told him after looking in the range finder [-o< . boom the deer shakes his head like a bee flew past his hears. missed again this deer just kept walking like nothing happened until he got to the corn field and disappeared. my son was disappointed to say the least. I said its still early son don't worry it’s only the second day (his first day football Saturday couldn't go hunting) I grab the gun reload it again. (Running out of bullets going to need to run to sportsman’s the way things are going) lol . We sat about 30 min looking over a bunch of does and fawns. On the other side of the road (still my buddies land) we see a group of deer that just came out of the corn and where getting water from the irrigation pond I looked all does I said. My son said even the ones by the tree? I looked and sure enough there where 2 bucks a nice 2 point and a smaller 2 point. I told Kyle we can get closer so we started to get right on them. We got to within 30 yards with the cover before they even knew we where there. I told him to shoot the bigger of the two and just as he gets his gun up the smaller one steps into his shooting lane. The bigger deer got into the trees before he could get a clean shot so I said shoot the smaller buck. BOOM the buck jumped I knew he was hit well. I backed Kyle off for 30 min. then we went to claim his deer it ran 30 yards and laid down and was dead by the time
we got to it.

one hunting fool
We are from the Salt Lake City area but recently moved to Tremonton. This was the first yard hunting this area I usually hunt the high Uinta's but with a wife and kids in tow this year I just could not make it there. I did however have a friends son who I usually hunt with go to where I first took him to get his first deer and if I can get him to send me some pictures I will post them. He got a dandy! Some kids you teach to hunt just surpass everything you teach them and instinct takes over. He is now 20 and is on his way to becoming one of the states best hunters.
Thank you all for welcoming me and I am glad to be a part of a page where my addiction and love for these beauties is shared
