Like the article says, these are our animals! The DWR cannot be everywhere so we need to be there eye's and ears and help. Remember the reward would be a LE tag for info leading to the capture of this/those who are steeling from us! :1

can you clarify?? does that mean anyone who helps catch the ^%$% holes that did this gets a LE tag?? that would be an awsome reward! it would make a guy spend alot of time out hunting poachers!

This is correct......As per an incident that I was involved in eight years ago, I seen a young boy open fire on a heard of elk (during the spike hunt) and then never go and see if he had hit anything. I was able to get his license number. Long story short he hit two elk 1=spike &1=cow. We went to court and testify. We were told then by a DWR officer that if it would have be a trophy(6x6 bulls and 4x4bucks) animal the reward would have been a LE tag because the offense took place in a LE trophy area. The reward then was $300.00 for a none trophy animal

I would only hope that it would still be a true fact. I think it would motivate more hunters to report what they here and see.

This stuff makes me sick - I'd love to be the lucky man to catch these SOB's.... It's not like there's any pride in poaching a freakin trophy animal. You don't get the publicity and magazine photos, etc. You can't tell all your neighbors and stuff - There's no honor in the harvest being as you shot the freakin thing on its winter range far out of season (meaning their not as weary and are focused much more strictly on survival than they are avoiding humans). Were I a billionaire I would love to dedicate my life to hittin the hills everyday and catching these fags, knockin 'em around a bit, and turnin their sorry arses in (maybe a little sniper action, blowin some knee-caps out.. We all know they deserve it). Absolutely pathetic!

it is true about the reward of the tags. I just attended hunters ed with my kids last year and that is what they told us. Moose tag for a moose poacher/elk for elk and deer for deer. tag is for the area in which the crime happened. Hunt them up!

Yeah when I went to my bison orentation they said that they were having troubles with poachers down there and for us to keep our eyes open. They said that if we seen any dead deer that we should call them even if it didn't look like a suspicious death.

Between the people that are working on their mines and drilling rigs and the people watching the animals it amazing that someone would do something like that.

I think that would be a wonderful incentive. I really like the way they wrote the story because it brings the nature of the crime close to home on how it effects law abidding sportsmen.

I personally hate poachers and would not hesitate to drop a dime on any of them.

Bummer deal for sure. It was poached near where my dad shot his buff. From the picture and the snow it looks like it might have been around the same time frame as well. There were lots of people around. I hope somebody has some info to catch whoever did this. I wish I did, so I could get a free deer tag.
