I spent the day looking for elk sheds and came home with 5 including a large 6 point with 49-1/2" main beam, a 5 point, a 4 point set and an old broken 3 point. These were all from last year. I have not found any fresh elk sheds yet this year. I am guessing that they are up higher since it was a dry winter. I couldn't see the 6 point until I was almost on top of it. If the match was near it was probably buried in the grass. Looking forward to a couple of days off this week for more horn hunting!

I have been hitting it hard on the weekends but my efforts are not paying off as much as earlier this spring. My horn to mile ratio has dropped significantly, but I am still finding some good ones and there is still a lot of land I want to check out. Yesterday I put in 14 miles in some steep timber and strained my knee, resulting in a painful climb down. At least I had a fresh 6 point elk horn strapped to my pack to make me feel better. Here are a couple of my recent finds.
