Another poaching case

I'm glad theses guys got punished, but I wish it was a liitle stiffer like with the hunting ban maybe some jail time and pay some fines.

MEDFORD, Ore. -- Two southern Oregon men have received lifetime suspensions of their hunting privileges after pleading guilty to hunting bears with dogs or bait.

State police say 42-year-old Terry Clearwater of Butte Falls and 37-year-old Brian Gerke of Shady Cove were targets of a 2008 undercover investigation by troopers.

Oregon is one of 30 states in the Wildlife Violator Compact, in which they honor each other's hunting and angling suspensions.

That means Clearwater and Gerke's lifetime bans also will keep them from hunting in much of the West, Midwest and South.

It's too bad that they will probably not stop poaching just because they have lost their privileges to hunt lawfully.

Yea, generally speaking if they are willing to break one or two laws then they are willing to break them all.

Glad they got caught though! At least they are now on record as poachers.

+1 I agree, that was my first thought. I think if the penilties were a bit stiffer they might think twice about doing it again.
