another Wasatch Front buck...
The north slope

I am new to the sight, but I have a story and a some pictures. I started the deer season hunting on the front. I had my eye on this one buck but he never gave me a good shot. I went Elk hunting on the opener and got my Elk on the first day (but that's a different story)The next week I went to help my buddy hunt for Elk. He drew a Manti archery Elk tag. He was on to some big bulls so I left him to it. He told me to go to a certain place to glass for some bucks. I got there in the early afternoon and it only took a few minutes til I found some bucks, one was pretty good. I chased these guys around for a couple weeks but I missed a really hard shot at the one nice buck. I was kneeling down shooting down a 30 degree slope, I pulled the shot at the last second and missed the buck. I went home a couple days later empty handed. The night I left my buddy connected with a 335 class bull. Anyway, I waited til the middle of Oct to go hunt the Wasatch. I knew it was too early for the rut but what the heck, I went up. I started my long hike to the top went something below me bolted, I froze. I could not see anything because of the thick oak brush, this is fairly common on the Wasatch. I started to scan up the moutain, when I saw the butt of a deer, he was hid in the oak brush. There was a small window through the brush and his chest was visable. I could see one side of his rack and it looked pretty good. I range him set my pin, and the arrow was on it's way all in a matter if seconds. The second the arrow left I knew it was a good shot it crashed right into his chest and he flew up the hill. He only went about ten yards when he turned around and started walking down hill. It was so thick a could only see his movement. He then step out into a clear spot and just stood there. I was able to see him in plain view wobble and crash over. This all happend so fast, It really didn't hit me for a few minutes. This is a great trophy for me, I am really happy with this deer!
