Antelope Island Buck

Well it's official, first buck killed on the Island hit the dirt yesterday. First day it opened I believe.

240" gross and 39" wide is what I was told.

Is that the Expo Tag or the lucky guy that drew in the lottery?

Either way, that is a TOAD!

Found the answer to my own question, there was a big front page write up about the Island being open for hunting again in Ogden's Standard Examiner (views and opinions obviously were tilted toward the anti-hunter). This would have to have been the Expo tag, the lottery tag will reportedly start hunting Saturday. Hopefully we get to see another big buck in the next week or so.

Yep it's the Auction tag, killed on opening day the 15th. Should be another toad just as big or close killed soon.

Wow what a beauty! Kind of a cheesy way to shoot a monster like that IMO but still fun to look at no matter what!

That is a monster buck! I may be just a bit jealous.

I was out there a couple days ago and filmed a 215-220" buck which I'll share with you guys at a later time. The Isand is not as easy as many make it sound to find some of the bigger bucks. There are lots of canyons they go into and are out of site from the road and trails, unless you plan on hiking several miles. (which I believe those Mossback guys did)
The guy I was with told me that the buck we saw is not even in the top ten out there. It was a buck of a lifetime to me.
On a side note, The Mossback guys were coming out with the auction tag kids ram. It was 14 years old and scored 166. So old "Double D" is still the king of Utah, so far. Score wise that is. :)

Congrats to all involved.

thats gotta make you feel good! your hard work and dedication you put into your hunt is still prove that that money cant buy everything!

back to the buck: so what does that equal out to, about $1000 per inch of antler? it is a giant though!

I grew up in Syracuse and have spent a considerable amount of time on the Island, be it overnight activities and hikes for Boy Scouts or family outings out there. I have seen some good bucks over the years, but my "big buck" sightings have been few and far between. I agree with ridgetop, that would be a much tougher hunt than most would expect.
