It is illegal in Utah to possess antlers that have been cut off.
Are there any rules against buying a antler lamps in which the antlers that are used are clearly cut offs?

I'm not sure how the DWR would view buying a lamp made from cut off antlers. Clearly, the regulations are designed as an anti poaching approach. But I wonder what they would say if you made a chandolier out of grandpa's old antlers that have been in the garge for decades. You'd know who took the animals but I doubt you'd find his old permit numbers.
It also made me wonder about the cut off knife handles you see on flint knapping knives. I've never seen a transaction report with those knives that shows who took the deer that the antler came from.
If you go by the book you would have to have the transaction report for each cut off antler used in the lamp in order for it to be a legal purchase / possesion. It also says that the sale / purchase can only be made between Feb 15th and July 31st.
I'm no authority on the subject. I'd be interested to hear if others read it the same way.
I agree with him but I wouldnt be worried about it as long as you can prove where you got it from . I dont think you have too much to worry about with something like that!
