Any other Texas muley hunters here?

First post. I always drool over the pics on this site...lots of big boys out a little further North and West from us in your states! I'm also dying this time of year because our season doesn't start until the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I'm not going until December 11th...

This link isn't our place, but it's pretty close to us (in West Texas terms anyway...about 60 miles), and I thought it was pretty cool that they got this much video of good deer.

Hopefully I'll post something like one of these in a couple of months!

I live in TX but I don't hunt there. Very, very little public land hunting for whitetails or muleies. I hunt FL and AL for whitetials and NM, CO, and AZ for elk and goats. Good luck this season.

Been reading this board for a while but never logged in until I saw your post. I hunt mule deer in the Texas panhandle. We have a few good ones up here that will rival the mountain states. A friend of mine killed a 32" 193 gross with double drop tines during the rifle season and I killed a 222 6/8's non-typical during the archery season. Everything else taken last year that I know of was our typical mature 20-24" 150-160 class deer.

The biggest buck we spotted so far this year is a 24" 155-160 deer.
Have a good season.

Heck of a deer...and that's the 2nd biggest all-time in Texas if I remember correctly! Nice job for sure.

Thanks Hannerhan. Didn't know he was the 2nd all time for Texas. It was a once in a lifetime archery buck for me. I can now die a happy man.
Good luck hunting!

We have a family ranch in West Texas and I took the first deer off of it in over 50 years last year. It was a mature 4x4 but, will only score 155. I was still proud of him. I have seen two 190+ in the last two years. The big ones are down here but, we just need this good rain for two or three more years. Good Luck.

Thought I would revive this post before the season starts. This is the deer on the right in the photo with 2 deer that I posted. I believe he was the #2 mulie killed in Texas last year. Wish he was mine. He scored 198 and some change.

Sweet buck oldcp! Gotta love them Texas mulies! Here's some pics of mine from last year. Got mine off a buddies place down in Presidio county. They've killed some big'uns off there. Mine scored 182 and they killed 3 other bucks bigger than mine after we left last year.

I'm from Texas, but mainly hunt wilderness Colorado. Mostly been doing pack in with our own horses. Lived in Alpine for a couple of years going to college. Use to get a couple of guys and a whole lot of liquid refreshments and ride around and check out the muleys. Never could afford to hunt on the private land.

Nice pics, I live in Texas just never had the opportunity or the funds to hunt Texas. I mainly hunt public land in CO, NM, AZ, and finally got drawn in Utah this year.

Bump for 2010 Texas muley pics. I'm heading out tomorrow and the Trans-Pecos season starts Friday so hopefully I'll have something to contribute soon.

I would consider moving to Texas if there was more public land to hunt. Seems everything is private. Those are some sweet bucks!

I just came back from hunting Matador WMA in Cottle County, and shot nice 6x5. Matador is public but you have to be drawn. Here's a link to the pic. http://www.texasbiggameawards.com/images/Region2/Bateman10.JPG" alt="" />
