any reloaders here?-I've gotta problem

Here's my problem...I got new RCBS dies for my new 300WSM; when I went to seat the first bullet the case crushed. I never had to size necks on brand new cases before, but I figured that must be the problem, so I ran a case through the sizing die enough for the neck expander ball to do it's thing. Then I tried seating a bullet with the same result...the case crushed where the neck meets the shoulder. Then I got my chamfering tool out and hit the case neck pretty aggressively...same thing-case crushed when I tried seating a bullet. Then I got out the micrometer...miked my bullets (Sierra Game King 165 gr boattails) at a perfect .308. When I miked the expander ball on the resizing die it came out at .3065. So, did I get a defective sizing die? Would some kind of case lube (graphite powder?) let the bullets seat?
It's Sunday AM as I write this-I'll give RCBS a call in the morning and see what they say...just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Even new brass needs to be preped(full length sized is best). Also how far down did you run your seating die? I've never had a problem with RCBS. I just miced the expander ball on my .300 Win Mag die and it is .3065 also. Seating dies are supposed to be run down untill you feel it touch the case with the case is on the full up stroke, then the die needs to be backed OFF one full turn. Good luck.

OK, I just tried full length resizing 2 cases and seating bullets...one of the bullets I even tried spreading a real fine film of sizing lubricant around the base. Result-2 more crushed cases. I'm just gonna quit ruining cases 'til I can talk to RCBS.

Problem solved-I had the seating die installed too low in the press...the case mouth was coming in contact with the crimping shoulder in the die before the bullet was seated and crushing the case; what a goober thing for me to do-I'll nominate myself for the Beaver Cleaver award.

That's what it sounded like to me. Seater set to far down. I been reloading for about 5 years now and I still look at the directions each time before I start.
