Anyone ever hunt unit 70 in Colorado?

I drew a buck tag for the 1st deer season here and I have no experience of this area. I have drove through it many times on my way to unit 61 where I have always hunted but thats about it. I would really appreciate any advice that anyone could give me about this area. Thanks very much.

Unit 70 is almost my backyard (but I consider my backyard to encompass hundreds of miles :thumb ). I have hunted the western part, the eastern-not so much.
The desert part of the unit is generally winter range for deer, it gets better when the snow gets deep in the mountains, real deep. The high country is better for the time of year you are hunting, but most is private.
Find water in the low country. You might find a resident buck hanging out along the Dolores River.
In the eastern end, I think there are a couple of State Wildlife Walk in Hunting areas. Here again, find water, but don't spend too much time over it, bucks like to drink after dark. Just see if there are any tracks coming in, and work from there.
Hope this helps a little.

Thanks alot Huntingal. Sounds like a good start for me. I do plan on hunting near the river so maybe i can find a resident. I will try the dry creek basin area as well. Thanks so much
