Anyone headed to Mexico?

After two long years of drought, it has rained much more than normal in most places. The last two years have been as bad as I've seen in 20 years of hunting down there. My dad and I actually bought a ranch 6 years ago, so I have learned a lot about these deer that I thought I had known so well. I always knew that the rainier years brought nice horns, but I never realized just how important it was. Anyway, I can tell all those that have booked with quality outfitters, the 08-09 season is going to be one for the ages.

Good luck to all!!

What area do you hunt down there? I have been in some areas where they graze cattle somewhat, but never really seen anywhere that the grass might be a problem. I have seen some field pictures of hunters with bucks that had grassland in the background, which kind of surprised me. Do you hunt south of Hermosillo? I have never been down that way so it might be different scenery. I will tell you that the shrubery on our ranch is green right now when it should be bare. This aint going to help for sure as it just gives them more camo than they already have! The good news for me is that my dad called this morning and said he saw 40 deer in two hours with one buck about 30 inches, high, and heavy! He said he only took pictures because he is sure that there are bigger. I told him he just might be trying to track down that same buck in a week's time! Anyway, I hope you bag a big one.

Desert Hunter-the long grass only referred to the vast amount of rain thisa year and the great vegetation growth. I think the antler growth should follow. Mostly North of Hermasillo. 30 in tall is way up in the sky!!
