APP Powder Flask

I just bought some American Pioneer Shockey's gold FFg loose powder to use in Colorado. I'm very happy with the groups I'm getting with it, but I cannot get it to pour out of my flask into the powder measure worth a darn. A few grains will come out, but it won't fill the measure. I tried one of my funnels I use with smokelesspowder while reloading and it won't flow through there either. Does anyone know of a flask the larger grained powders will flow through. At this point, I pour directly from the container into the measure spilling a little each time. Too bad Colorado won't allow pellets like we do here in Kansas and most other states.

Chris, I'm in the same boat as you but it's the Blackhorn 209 container. Any suggestions for us?

Jeff,
I took the lid off a bottle of marking chalk and put it on my flask. It works as long as I pour slow and shake a bit, but will ba a pain trying to keep track of the cap. Hope to find a regular flask that works.CJ

its called.. A POWDER HORN ... they have very large spouts as historically old powder was typically large grained. A powder horn is historicaly correct for colorado as a plus !

there are many nice ones for sale, and one can also get a decent one at places like sportsmans warehouse, cablelas, bass pro, or one of the many makers on line...

Thanks sagebrush, I'm a greenhorn with this smokepole hunting. I hope to kill a bull this year with one. [-o<

I was hoping to find something a little more modern and compact than a powder horn. CJ

Can you not set up your loads at home into some sort of speed loader. I used to hunt turkeys with a 12 gauge CVA Trapper shotgun. I used 35mm film cannisters for the shot and powder. I used a permenant marker and put an "S" on the shot cannister and a "P" on the powder cannister for Salt and Pepper....I mean Shot and Powder. The cannisters are flexible so it is easy to pour the powder out without spilling. A little cheaper than buying another flask.

Have you tried one of these funnel-spouts from TC? I have had good success with them using T7, Pyrodex, and BH209.

I use these vials as speed loaders. they hold a 300 SST, Harvester sabot, and 120 gr of BH209 just perfectly. Low cost, fit in shell loops inside pockets, nice tubes!
