Archery Units

Here's my questions to you all:

1. You all have your favorite archery units/areas within your own states, which do you think is the best to draw/hunt and why?? Also odds at drawing the unit?

2. Many of you still don't apply for the "best" units in your states, why and what is your personal favorite or alternative??

To answer my own question in honest opinion:

1.I do believe that the Henery Mountains is the best deer Unit in the state of Utah FOR RESIDENTS you non-residents try the always popular PAUNSAUGUNT. I was in on a discussion in another part of the forum and the odds were 1 in 31 for Archery resident on the Henery Mountains, the downer is that no Non-resident tags are offered to Archers! On the Pauns on the other hand Residents are 1 in 12 and Non-residents are 1 in 45. So there is the "top of the state" archery units!

2. I again like the Henry's for my personal favorite, but if you non-residents want a unit that you have a crack at a good buck, possibly a huge one, try the Filmore Oak Creek unit. Residents can pick up an archery tag if you are 1 in about 2.5 and Non-residents catch this: 1 in 3! One in three, why move if you can pick up a one in three tag! If you are literally the lucky ONE then call and I'd love to go check it out with you! I hunted this with a friend this year and he was WELL within bow distance of a 200"+ nontypical GIANT! If only he'd of taken time to LOOK AROUND! Hey if all esle fails try picking up a general statewide archery tag, you can only hunt the general units, but statewide gives you plenty of space and you could get a good buck there too!

I am also from utah and I agree with your pick down on henry mt. I live near provo and I hunt the wasatch front frequently. It is producing some really nice bucks lately and it is an over the counter general tag. You have to really hike to get away from the roads but it is alot of fun. (my buck this year took 3 hrs. to pack out.) I was curious about the area your family hunted to kill those nice bucks. You don't need to give specifics, but what is the general area?
