Arizona Coues Deer Hunting

Just wondering if anyone has any info on archery hunting Coues Deer in Arizona. I am thinking about heading down January 2010. Anything will help

It's been my experience the prime rut time for Coues is the last two weeks of January.....at least where I've been. They tend to live in the foothills and higher elevations of the Southern desert units.......while the mule deer inhabit the lower flats.

Some of the desert units have oak trees at higher elevations and I've seen quite a few Coues deer living in these areas. They are extremely difficult to bowhunt when using spot and stalk techniques, IMO. If drier weather is present, I've known a few guys who were successful sitting secluded water holes. They're an absolutely beautiful deer that seem to evade me yearly.

It's been pretty dry here so water will be at a premium unless it rains alot between now and january. Unit 31 around Safford in the Mount Graham area has water and oaks and holds some deer. It's a safe area too.
