Arizona draw

The Results are in for Arizona deer ,I drew a 12A East tag,have hunted 12 B before,first time in 12A,not looking for anyones honey holes,just some generic info on places to start ,thanks,............is the early hunt Oct26 -Nov 4

Deserthunter4747, Welcome to the site and congrats on the draw. Unfortunatly, I am in the same boat as Hiker. I've never hunted there before. I just wanted to welcome you to MuleyMadness. Also, just as Hiker pointed out, there are a good mess of Arizona hunters here. Hopefully one of them can point ya in the right direction.

If there's snow, concentrate your scouting efforts on the east side game road and hike/glass into some of the major canyons and migration routes coming off the plateau. There's a lot of country out there, but get away from the roads and others and you'll find deer. It's a good tag but you need to decide what you're willing to shoot before you start. If you want a huge buck, you're going to have to pass good ones.

Might want to utilize a scouting service offered up there that gives you maps and areas where historically big bucks have been taken. They also show migration routes and where the deer are if no snow exists. Guide Duanne Adams offers this service , I believe. Good luck and congrats on the tag.

I take it you didn't draw Arizona, or did you already kill here for this year and just apply for the point? I didn't draw anything all the way across. I do know someone that drew a sheep tag though, so maybe I'll get to tag along on that hunt. I am now the proud owner of 19 bonus points for sheep in AZ....

Just another BP for me, as I arrowed a buck in January. I'm still in the max pool for deer.....it'll be interesting to see how many people with max points. No sheep for me either.......but I'm a long way from 19 points! You're going to draw that tag soon, I can feel it! Are you going to kaibab for the archery hunt?

I'm really trying to concentrate on taking a nice coues, so I'm not sure that I'll go to Kiabab this year. I also have a limited opportunity archery elk hunt in the last two weeks of September that I picked up as a leftover tag, so I doubt I will be able to work that out anyway. The elk hunt had 75 permits last year, with zero success, so I'm going to have to work hard to fill it!

Thanks all for the welcome,been coming here for years,thought Id sign up...I appreciate the responses,like I said,not wanting the secret spots,just some place to start.......going to take at least three scouting trips and will pray for snow.once again,thanks for the friendly welcome all :)

In recent years, it has not been too common to have snow up there by that early in the season. Chances are good that if you find them on your scouting trips, they will still be in those areas for your hunt. Good luck!

Like you Ive; hunted 12b but never 12A. My guess though is that most of the deer will probably be a higher elavtion untill there is some decent snow. Of course last year at that time we had had some good snow but there were just as many hanging high as there was in the low country.
