Back from the Expo - (pics heavy)

Well just got back from Salt Lake City where I attended the Hunt Expo yesterday. Didn't think I was going to be able to make it, but did in the end just barely.

Hey Brett,

I attended. I thought the show was great. It sure makes a guy wish he had deeper pockets. There were so many outfitters that I would have loved to book a hunt with but that hasn't happened in the past and won't for the forseeable future. It's still very rewarding to look.

Brett has the better camera, I took my small pocket digitaland my photos came out grainy but here's a few for you guys.

Monarch Taxidermy had a great display at the entrance where you buy your tickets to get in the expo. Heres a pic

For me the best part of the show is all the great taxidermy work heres some good work on a Ram

To answer Bretts question, I put in for four deer tags, three elk, and one moose. Neither the wallet or the wife agree with putting in for any more than that. I did draw last year putting in for 5 hunts :not-worthy so I should be a shoe in this year putting in for 8 lol [-o< [-o< [-o< The seminars were great. I picked up a bugling bull elk call, sitka geat tee shirt, and some window decals just for attending. Freebies are good!


I look foward to seeing more pics from members who attended.

Incidently the Chad K buck may be the new world record typical pope and young. It has to wait for a panel score.
 I hope he sends it in......I'm on the P&Y panel this year and would love to see it the end of this month. Did he strip the velvet?

 I don't think so. The mount was in the velvet and it didn't look like the fake stuff. Heck of a buck. He said he is sending it in for a panel score.

Awesome, I can't wait to measure it......probably coming in as an honorable mention then. Unfortunately, velvet entries are not eligible for world record status. Doesn't matter though.....it's a tremendous mule deer!

Nice pictures, I was there on Friday. Sat in on a few seminars. a person sure can loose track of time in there.

Brett, I never was asked to bring to horns over. I did get invited to the FANAWS banquet and took them to it.

I was able to run over there during lunch one day and validate my tags (my office is 5 minutes from the Salt Palace). But unfortunately I was not able to attend the expo as I'm working some 60 hour weeks right now. I did love looking at the mounts out in the lobby where you purchase your tickets. My favorite was the full size Dall Sheep mount shot in the Northwest Territories. I put in for 22 different tags. Shhhh, don't tell my wife.

All of those bucks are lifetime bucks. However, this buck (pic #5) in full velvet is the winner in my opinion... :thumb

Great show, unfortunately I did not have enough time to see it all…. Spent to much time with
ALBERTA RIVER LODGE. I booked a white tail hunt for 2012. I have had it on my bucket list for years…. I have procrastinated for years, NO MORE!

NotEnufTags it was great to bump into you at the show…. Thanks for picking me out of the crowd and coming over to say Hi…. Good luck to you as well in 2011.
