I guess I'm in the same boat guys. I hunt from august through September on my own every year because I cannot find a partner who loves the backcountry like I do. My season usually starts with a two week backcounty pack in bow hunt for mule deer, followed up with a two week backcountry elk hunt. There is something magical about packing in 5-10 miles and hunting hard while taking in all that fantastic country, just cant get enough.
On the subject of backcountry gear, I'm looking at buying a n ultralight tent called a Golite Eisenhower Tunnel. I was told it's big enough for two guys, weighs 3 pounds, and is guaranteed to keep you dry in heavy rain or hail storms. Anyone ever use one? I located them at Backcountry.com, but was hoping to get a couple of reviews before buying one :)
