backpack fit?

I have read through the threads and have gotten a pretty good idea about which brands i want to choose from.
I want a mid size pack to haul quarters if needed. How should the pack ride on my back to make sure it will be comfrotable while hauling a load?

I would recommend the Badlands 2800 it makes for a great day pack, or an over-nighter.... But the neat think is you won't be up the creek if the time comes to strap on some meet and head out. The 2800 is designed to handle just that with a meat shelf, The external straps to hold it in place, a bow or gun scabbard and it puts all that weight(center of gravity) right on the hips and close to the body were it belongs by adjusting the load lifters....... check out Badlands web page for more professional information on proper pack placement and adjustments. http://www.badlandspacks.com/packs.php

I think that a pack designed to carry 2800 c.i. is going to be a little uncomfortable carrying meat. If you just want to carry a small first load out with your hunting pack so you don't waste a trip then get your serious pack to do the rest that's a good thing. But a large frame pack is the only way to go especially in rough terrain. Make sure the hip belt fits and wraps around the front of your hips so the web belt doesn't cut in. The ones that tip in at the top are best. Take a child or a 50 pound weight with you when you try it. Good stores that specialize will have a bag of sand available. A quarter from a decent size elk with the bone in it and bagged will weigh 60 pounds (most guys think it weighs 80) and is a handful.

My dad and I picked up the badlands 2200 and 2800 this year, I will let you know what we think ot them after this season of field tests.
