After seeing Roy's recent pics of the bear he stalked up to within 12 yards for some great photo's, it got me thinking about a bear experience my brother had a while back.
He and some buddies went back packing into the Wind River mountains in Wyoming to catch some golden trout. While setting up the tents they took this photo of a black bear.

Needless to say they decided to hang food in a bag between to trees. After camp was set up they got their fly rods out and went to fish the surrounding lakes.
Heres a spawning golden trout form the trip.

They stayed at the lakes too long. It was dark when they got back to the tents. Here's what they found back at camp.

Apparently, my brother had left and unopened can of sardines in his backpack. It was the only food item in the tent. The bear had shreaded the backpack to get to the unopened sardines. Talk about a nose.
Destroyed by the "Bad Bear" was his tent, sleeping bag, self inflating pad, and pack. Needless to say the fishing trip was cut short.

BTW: That's a beautiful brown too!
Now where did I put those oysters?
I'd say they stayed away just long enough to stay out of a lot of trouble. Glad nobody was hurt.
Golden trout has awesome color. :thumb
