I was just going to post that they found the bear, but as usually I'm a half-hour late and a dollar short!

here is what the DWR say http://www.wildlife.utah.gov/news/07-06/bear_incident.php">http://www.wildlife.utah.gov/news/07-06/bear_incident.php but they never said if the bear was younger or an older bear? any body know?

Well i guess the animal rites people will say that the bear should not have been killed, that it was the peoples fault for being in the wrong place or that the victim probally had food in his tent. That is one of the worst experinces a family should never have to go through my prayes to them, and we know he will be missed. We need to take care of more problem like this or we will have more, just like the Grizzly Man. But he pushed his luck a little to much. Please no one take this the wrong way, just a terrible accident, so terrible.

Very tragic indead. I feel terrible for the family.

Just to give a thought. On the news article the grandfather states that they are putting blame on the Forest Service for not warning the public better that there are bears in the area.

How is the forest service going to post thousands of miles of forest to warm about bear??

Sorry if I come across a little rude but come on people. Now everyone in in a uproar. They believe that Utah should get strickter bear laws..
Their theory is
(Lets wipe them all out and then we wont worry about the problem)
This is the first bear attack that was fatal in the State of Utah.

I hear people comming up to the Uinitas all the time, mention" I didnt know there was bear up here" DUH
Well, what do you expect when you go camping in the mountains??

2 weeks ago my good friend took dogs to the bookcliffs hunting bear.

They caught 16 bear in 5 days. I say give a couple more tags out a year. But, as far as shooting to kill because there was a bear attack.
That will not solve any problem. Next it will be the lions and then moose.

I bothers me to listen to the enviromentalists, Sorry I offended anyone.

Well if you are in bear country you should not have to be warned.

Is there anywhere in the west that is not bear country anymore?

The grandparents are obviously hurt deeply and are searching for something to blame the loss on, something to lash out at. I think it is a natural reaction and am inclined to give them a pass at this point.

My heart really goes out to the family and I hope they can find some comfort.

I think the USFS does a great job of posting bear danger as do most states.
