Best shot???

Just curious about the best shot anyone has ever made. Wish I could say mine was on an elk or deer but.... Back in high school, a buddy of mine and I were trying to figure out how to tan hide so we grabbed our .22's to get some critters. As we were walking out in the field a jack rabbit got up about 50 yards in front of us and was running from right to left. I shot from the hip and nailed the rabbit as he rolled to a stop. We walked up to it and my buddy said that was the luckiest shot he had ever seen in his life. The bullet went in one eye and out the other. I calmly explained to him as we were trying to get hides to tan, I didn't want to put any bullets through the hide, thus I shot the rabbit in the eye. Don't think he quite believed me but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I have made a FEW shots in the 300+ yard range on elk and deer but I feel my comfort level is 200-250 max, unless I have all the time in the world and have a solid rest. I did try a shot on a nice buck that I estimated to be 300-350 yards away and never came close to him. Later, looking from another angle, the range turned out to be closer to 600 yards! So much for shooting across a draw. Think it's past time I invest in a range finder.
(I did get the buck two days later and was the biggest bodied buck I've ever seen, weighing about 325-350 lbs)
