Big buck with lots of cover

I saw a big buck the other day. Somewhere around 26 to 30" with a 6" kicker on the right antler. Anyhow, he and two smaller bucks are living in an area with corn, sunflowers and CRP in close proximity. Parts of the area are walk in. Any idea how to pattern a buck with that much cover. I saw him twice one day and haven't seen him since, but with a lot of cover I don't know where to go from here. He has all he needs in a small area including ponds. Any suggestions? Our season is early (Oct. 1), so the corn and sunflowers usually aren't out yet.
