Well here he is gents. Opening day buck on public land in utah.
What a hunt my and the little brother headin to the hills friday night and had this guy and a smaller four point spotted before we hit the sack that night. The bad thing was some other bow hunters were watchin him and said they were after him in the morning so i bit my lip knowing i had put alot of time in for these bucks this summer and agreed to stay out of their hair and hunt a diff canyon. I could not sleep all night i tossed and turned and sat up and ate food and climbed out of the tent to take a leak. Picked the bow up pulled it back closed the eyes and imagined an arrow in flight and that deer. Crawled back i the tent and back to sleep.
We arose around 5 and ate a little something packed the packs and off we went. We sat down before it got light and started the wait till we was able to see. WE were on edge and i could not wait. Finally it started to get light and within minutes i had our first buck spotted. A little forker but still a buck. It was gonna be a good day. I got a glimpse of somethingwith my bare eyes way out across the canyon. I pulled the binos up and spotted a good looking 4 point stand up out of his bed. I could not believe my eyes. He was grey and a great 4 point.... MAn he looks like the same that was with the big boy in the opposite canyon the night before. No way could it be... i looked beyond him and the huntin gods were smilin on us that day. I seen him layin down. I grabbed my brother and told him look at that thing... After a few choice words and some excitment we settled down and started to make a plan. WE decided we was gonna stay high and just glass him and hope he beds down before to long. 1 hour...2 hour...3 hours later he continues to work his way down farther away from the top ](*,) but we manage to follow him.
It was not long before i heard someone come up behind us.. Two hunters asking what we are looking at and if we seen anything. I was about to make sure they was gonna know that was my bike. I just kindly let them know we had been watchin this buck all morning and as soon as he bedded down we was going after him. Anyway to try to cut this story short he didnt bed down till around 11 and somehow we was still on him. About half amile away but still had him.
WE decided it was now or never the wind was good so we slid our way down to the bottom fo ravine and started our stalk tryin to keep eyes on him at all times. 100 yardss to go he jumps from his bed and starts lookin around alert. But he was not lookin in our direction sosomething else had gotten his attention so we kept on moving. I ranged the tree i knew he was by and it was 30 yards. One more step and i will be able to see him im sure of it i take the step and look but see nothing. No way all this time and effort and he is gone. I turn towards my brother with a look of disgust on my face. I turn back to double check and there he wa lo0okin at us. HOLY@*&$ i could not believe how big he was(keep in mind i have never killed anythying with my bow except a turky this year). He was 28 yards broadside and we let him have it. He went down 40 yards after that. When we got to him i have never been so excited. Honestly even if i sound like a girl i almost want to cry. WE had spent half a day keepin tabs on this buck and let at least 10 other buck go without a second look becasue we was so focused on him. It was a greater day of my life. It took us 8 hours to get him out but well worth it. 27 3/4 inches, Had him rough scored by a guy ssays 176 to 180 buck. i could not be happier.

Congrats! That pic with you and him at the house really puts him into perspective, great job and you mean to tell me your mom went in and helped you pack him out like that huh? You must have one cool mom. :)
When i say the ole lady i dont mean my mom. THe ole lady is my girlfriend of 8 years and soon to be wife one of these days now that i got the buck in the bag. There for a min i was thinkin me may leave cuz i was so obsessed with the hunt :))
Thanks for taking the time to write up that great story and share your hunt with the rest of us. 10sign: I felt as if I were right behind you with a cam-corder. It is such an awesome feeling to enjoy the sweet success of a big buck. Ride it as long as you can. Keep us updated on the taxidermy progress, 60 day scoring, and anything else you want to share.
You may want to seal the deal with that gal, otherwise you are going to have some serious competition with all of those deer packing skills, she will have lots of suitors! :))

Both You and Muley madness owner need to get serious about the rings to help ensure that hunting is passed to the next generation!! =D> =D>
