Blazer Vanes

I put some Blazers on a few arrows the other day to see how they would shoot, my point of impact was the same, but the arrows seemed to woble alot in flight. So here is my question has anyone else had this problem and what is the solution? Do I need retune my setup to the Blazers or do they just fly that what because they are so short?

That's weird, they seem to correct faster and fly better for me. I do use a right helical when applying them. I would try that and see how it works for you.

They are one of the best vanes I've used. However, being a bit taller than most others, I would ensure you are not having some type of contact with the rest (if using a drop away).

Second the 'contact' issue...

I've had contact issues with them too. Watch the cables especially. They fly much better than anything I've tried (except AAE Max Hunters but the Max Hunters aren't as rugged). They also fly faster and shed velocity slower and are less affected by wind. Impact changes are not terribly noticeable at close range but when you get to 50 yards and beyond it's considerable.

How do you know if your vanes are hitting your drop away rest? Is there a way of telling, or can you hear it? I'm just switching over from a Wisker biscuit to a Ripcord, so it's something I've wondered about.

Thanks guys. I found the problem. When the guy cutting the arrows (me) cut them he for some reason decided that they should be an inch longer than his others. ](*,) So I cut them down and have no problems now.

Spray tinactin on your rest prongs lightly, then shoot.... If you have contact you'll see it because the light white coating will be gone in the affected area.

Dont mean to hijack...
does anyone know how the blazer vanes do with a whisker biskit? l have been reading into the Blazer's, but was curious as to how the shorter and taller vanes hold up when passing through the biskit?

They work great with a WB... You may loose 2-3 fps but no more.

I'm giving them a try. They have a wider surface atea for the contact glue. They're a little easier on the wallet. I think I like the shape of them better.

2 things, 1) I started using Blazers this year as well, and I love them, but I found that I had to paper tune again to get them to straighten out in flight. I was getting a little contact somewhere (not sure where), but paper tuning fixed the problem. I compared them with the Quick-Spin vanes and had no noticeable difference, so due to price I'll stick with Blazers. 2) I fletch arrows for my buddy and he uses a Biscuit. He tells me that he likes the Blazers much more than he liked the 4" vanes he had previously. He also had to paper tune to straighten his arrow flight although his was an up and down "wobble" and mine was a side-to-side "wobble".

Hope this helps.
