Bow Rehab

Hey guys I have a few questions for ya. Has anyone else on here injured their shoulder or wrist? I am still in therapy for my seperated should and broken wrist on the arm I drw the bow back with. I keep eye balling my bow wishing I could at least pratice but I am trying to let it heal right. I guess my question is has anyone ever had either of these injuries and was able to work back up to the same draw weight? I know I will have to get my draw length adjusted when the time come because my arm is now 2 inches longer lol. On a good note my ankle is healing well and I am able to make 1 and 2 mile walks in the woods now without getting too sore. I just hope I am back up to speed by october for my hunts in Utah.

I had shoulder surgery on mine(rotater cups)2 years ago and was able to get back to my original draw weight about 5 months ago :thumb

I've had operations on both elbows and both hands and one wrist and have some palsy in my hands and am shooting well now. I'm much older than you are so I believe you'll heal just fine. The doctor descibed me as "tenacious". I shot a 50 pound bow for a few years ( I actually had to push my hand with my chin to get back to full draw) and now can handle a 60 pounder. I must use a release though. Before all this I shot a recurve with fingers but can't mange a good release anymore. I'm sure if you have the desire and a good sports doc you'll find a way. :thumb God bless.

P.S. I think Michael Waddell has one short arm from a motorcycle accident and he's doing fine now.

I broke my wrist that I draw back with in two places on the growth plate. That happened in the month of June and I was back to pulling 70lbs in August for the Nevada Opener. Thats when I was shooting fingers and no sights. I think you would be fine with the wrist but I don't know about the shoulder? I'm a little hard headed so in my case I would be headed out with the bow regardless of orders.

Sneeky, the only sugestion that would humbly offer is DONT push it. I also had orthoscopic surgery on my shoulder after and injury at work. I rushed the therapy and was back working within 4 weeks. It only took a week of work for me dislocate again and have since had two more surgeries and missed two years of work. Dont push yourself back.

Giving up one season is nothing compared to giving up bow hunting all together. I can no longer draw even thrity pounds. I can lift twenty five pounds to my waist and ten pounds over my head with my left arm..

just my two cents.

Thanks for all the input guys I appreciate it. I am pushing myself in therapy extra hard but I'm not sure what kind of shape my shoulder will be in by the time the hunt rolls around. Thats ok though cause I can hunt all three seasons here in North Carolina and I have a rifle tag in Utah so I should be fine! :thumb
