Brett,Harlen,Don or anyone else knowing alot about Photo

With x amount of money do you buy a lens with more zoom(500mm) or something that does not have as much zoom(300mm) but a smaller ap at the highest zoom(170-500 f5-6.3) (100-300 F4)
and i already have a 70-300 f4-5.6

What are you wanting this new lense for? You could go with a 2X telextender with your 70-300 you have now.

The lens I now have is a cheap Quanterey $150.00

I was thinkin going wiyh the 170-500mm( if I remember right you have this lens, and you actually got me looking a little harder b4 i bought the 50-500 i was originally looking at)) but then I saw a 100-300 that ia a f4 all the way and posibble getting a 1.4 doubler but then i will lose a stop. All sigma lenses.

I am lost

Do I go bigger lens, or smanller lens with a smaller ap for better lighting for the same amount of $$$$$$

All for shooting wildlife early mornings and later eves is why I thought the 100-300 f4

You could go with a bigger aperature but you'd probally still need a tripod in low light. If your going to do wildlife, I would go at least 400mm and then a 1.4 or 2x multiplier. The Quantry lense's used to all be made by Sigma, they are good lenses that don't break the bank.

I like my 170-500mm. I also went to the site that Brett put up and the 50-500 get's awful good reviews. The 170-500 isn't there.
