On my way off the mtn tonight it got thinking,(scary huh) about my broadheads and how i really want to test them out, so......
for those that have been successful in harvesting lets hear a report on your broadhead effectivness and how it held up, if ya have pics, post them so we can see the hole etc.
im still after the 180+ muley or raghorn elk to test my tight point shuttle t in 100 grain.

More interestingly... I shot a whitetiail doe @ 25 yds, hit her a little far forward. When I boned her out, I examined the ball of the ball joint in the front shoulder and discovered that the broadhead had actually broke about 1/3 of it clean off and the arrow continued on it's path with out even minor aparent deflection. It angled back (consistant with her standing angle), went through the heart and all but 4 inches of the fletched end of the arrow came out next to her leg on the opposite side. She sprinted 60 yds and collapsed. I was exceedingly happy with these results. The broadhead I used on her was a Magnus Stinger 125gr. 4 blade.
My friend shoots 100 gr. SteelForce and killed a big bull elk quartering towards him, shooting at a very steep angle downhill. The arrow broke through the edge of the shoulder blade, broke a rib and smoked through the lungs without really changing course. He only got about 2/3 of his arrow of penetration but the bull only went about 50 yards.
My friend and I shoot 400gr beman ICS hunters @290fps and 440 gr Easton Axis @260fps respectively and have had great results on marginal shots with cut on contact heads which have a low blade angle such as the magnus stingers, steel force, snuffers, wensel woodsman etc. and a relatively heavy arrow by today's hi-tech archers. Neither of us have to move our sights when switching from target points to these broadheads even out to 60 yds.
I don't advocate taking marginal shots but every hunter will eventually make a bad shot and hope for the best. I think choosing these style of broadheads and shooting a fairly heavy arrow will increase the chances of a marginal hit being a vital one. That's my opinion.....
