buck mullie tag for the Montana Elkhorns

I drew a buck mullie tag for the Montana Elkhorns but all my buddies have failed me for making the trip. I am not familiar with the area on the west side of the mountains, I do fine on the radersburg area. I am just reaching out to see if any one will be on the mountain this weekend and willing to help if needed. Going it alone and still a bit of a novice at hunting just a bit conserned about loading a hog into the truck myself. I will have my quad so nearly sure I could at least get my buck back to the truck. Any and all ideas or assistance would be a great help.

I guess you'll have to learn and adapt like the rest of us did. It's not that hard. Just throw some garbage bags in your pack and bone him out. I can do mine in about an hour and can fit it all in one trip. You can quarter him out and do 2 or 3 trips if you want. It's always fun to hunt with someone, but I do have to admit, I like to hunt by myself too. It's not so bad. Enjoy what mother nature has for you and get a big one. We will be looking forward to your pictures. lol

Boning the buck out is another thing i had hoped to have learned before doing it alone but the fridge needs to get filled one way or another. My fear is messing up the meat.

I taught myself. Out of necessity. You will do fine.
The biggest thing is keeping the meat as clean as possible. I always take light game bags and trash bags. It nice to have plenty of material to lay things out on and to cover them while you work. Cut it out from the inside of the leg on the hind quarter, the front, I think you could go either way. Its pretty easy. I always hunt solo. Not by choice. But I do enjoy the challenge of knowing I am on my own. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR HUNT!
