Buddy's epic deer year utah and Idaho bucks

So a co-worker and good friend of mine had an epic Muley year. First harvesting a nice 24" velvet buck on the Book Cliffs archery hunt, and second bagging the biggest deer (31" 4x4) of his life with an over the counter South eastern Idaho Rifle tag. I could kill him though for not getting some decent field photos, but this is what we've got.

Great bucks... What a lucky year for your friend. Seems to me like there a lot good ones harvested this season.

That Idaho buck survived what looked to be a severe wound in his nose for an unknown number of years, my buddy Mike has to get a new cape for the mount.

Why get a new cape? Find a taxidermist who is skilled enough to mount it as is. If it's the wound visible on the nose, I don't think that it would look bad mounted at all. Whatever he decides to do will make a great mount. I bet a good taxidermist could really cover up most of that anyway. They are pretty crafty.------SS

He also blasted the hell out of it's neck, but I guess his taxidermist has several capes, so no worries, personally I would have loved to see the nose hole on the mount, would give it some great character. His taxidermist considers him a preferred customer as he shot a 28" buck last year in the same are of Idaho.
