Bullet choice for whitetails/muleys

Now that the draw results are out and I'm starting to get really excited for the upcoming season, thoughts have turned to gear. Just curious as to what bullets are going to be flying at deer this year.

I'm undecided on my bullet of choice this year. Last season I took my whitetail with a 165 grain Federal Fusion and it seemed to do the job. A little range work this spring showed 150 grain Hornady Interbonds to be more accurate so I may go down that road. Last season's hunt was my first with a rifle and the guy at the counter recommended the Fusion as I didn't have a clue what to use.

Just curious...what bullet are you guys using for your deer? What has worked in the past? I'm a relative newbie to deer hunting trying to soak up as much info as I can!!

I handload Nosler accubonds and really like their performance.

Another Johnson vote for Nosler Accu-bonds. My 7mm mag loves them, but I would choose whatever shot the best since deer are not that hard to kill.

Hornady Interbonds is what I use most and have had NO PROBLEMS.

I am going to test out the Barnes Tipped triple schocks and see how they shoot out of some of my rifles.

Sounds like a 30 cal cartridge. In them I like 165gr bullets. Never found a need for other than cup and core bullets but have thought about partitions and bonded now and then. It's easy to get over that when I see the price of a box of bullets, cup and core about 1/2 the price of partitions and bonded. We're only talking deer here. I've shot a lot of deer with 30 cal cup and cores and have never failed to have one exit so I don't know how well they preform other than a good shot put's the animal down for good.

I have tried 150's in a couple 308's and a 30-06 but never got them to shoot as well as 165's so 165's it is with me. You could go crazy trying to find the best bullet, there's a ton of them! Probably the think that makes a bullet best in the end is how much confidence you have in it!

I agree bonded bullets aren't necessary for deer, but I have a load using these my '06 loves, so I just load a few hundred rounds a year and use the same load for everything I hunt.

i'm not sure what these are?

I personally love SWIFT bullets! the A-frames are ,weight retention holding, hard hitting freikin hammers and the scirrocos[sp?] are flat shooting, very controlled weight retention, great bullets! i really like any barnes bullet as well. but for deer most any accurate bullet out of your gun will do the job nicely.

Hornady interlock, Sierra (all), most Speer, Remington core lock, pretty mich any bullet that is not bonded, has a partition or the Barnes TSX type construction.

Well I think I've found my bullet for this fall. This past couple weeks I have been to the range a few times and so far the 150 grain Hornady Interbond in my 30-06 has been the most accurate of the ammo I have shot. I have been able to get a few 1" 5 shot groups at 100 yards off the bag.

150gr. Winchester Ballistic Silvertips have been the most accu-right round I have shot from my 7mm.Rem.Mag. so far. Grouped 4 rounds smaller than a quarter from 200 yds.

I like the Barnes triple shock. I have shot alot of critters with it and it hasn't failed me yet. They cost a little more but I feel it does the job and it's worth it.
