CA Blacktail Season Overview (pics)

Well, nothing too exciting this deer season for the BOHNTR family. The big bucks were scarce this year....even during the rut? My son hunted pretty hard this year but finally decided to arrow a couple smaller blacktails. It was his 9th and 10th CA deer with a bow.......and his last as a youth. Here's a few photos of them:

I was going to be a bit pickier, looking for a buck that would at least make the state record book minimum for the specie. I spotted this buck and was able to sneak in close enough for a one-arrow shot. He'll easily make the minimum when the 60 day drying period is up. He's 18' wide, with some decent main beam length and eye-guards.

I have another CA tag in my pocket, but since Cody arrowed two, my Coues buck from August, and my AZ buck from Last December, I had enough meat to last.....especially since I'm leaving for Arizona the day after Christmas for three weeks. Enjoy the photos, and we'll see you boys/girls after I come back from Arizona. Merry Christmas everyone!
