I'm hoping for an archery Tule Elk bull tag myself.....oh, and maybe a Goodale deer tag as well.....sheep or antelope would be nice too. Of course, I'll probably end up with the same as most years after the draw.....two archery-only deer tags. #-o

Just a Preference Draw for me this year, need to start building points for a tough draw we plan on applying for in a couple of years. Might do a little D Zone hunting.

Good Luck!

Wooooohooooo! I just found out from the nice lady at DFG that I just drew the most coveted tag in CA. G3 (Goodale) here I come. It will be a tough hunt though, as I'll be chaing them with my bow while the other 24 lucky hunters will be after em' with a rifle. The oddes of drawing this tag with MAX points was over 80-1......Come December 1st I'll be after them. If anyone has any info they are willing to share for this once-in-a-lifetime hunt, please pm me......I'm willing to exchange some hunt info. :thumb

Wish I had some info for ya, but CONGRATS my friend! Sounds like you have the odds stacked against you a bit. But if anyone can 'get er done' with the bow it would be YOU!

Is this during the RUT?

Yeah, it's a rut hunt in the eastern Sierra nevada Mountain Range. They kill some TOADS there. here's one from 05:

And just for the record i truly beleive all the other 24 hunter will be at a dissadvantage, little do they know that the big deer killing machine is in their unit with his greatest weapon of choice! Good ld luck and cant wait for a pic or two.

I might (stressing the word might) go to wallyworld and get me a deer app for Zone D-8. I'd prolly have better odds if I spent the money on the lottery, and I wouldn't have to worry about taking a bullet from the illegals and the OTHER foreigners. I swear it's like vietnam in that zone and there's not even any deer. I don't know what the hell they shoot at. Prolly bald eagles and condors. :>/

Congrats BOHNTR, that's supposed to be the best tag in the state. Good luck, I'm sure you'll have some pics for us when it's all over with. How did you manage to get the results early? Do you have connections?

Congratulations Roy! I'm very excited for you. More possible good news for you as well.....AZ G&F is seriously considering offering your longed-for Strip unit to a limited draw archery tag next year.... I'm not sure what season dates they are considering, perhaps Aug or Sept rather than the rut, but I would think your accumulated points might score that tag if you wanted to. Maybe we'll draw it together. I'm only putting in for really tough deer hunts this year because I AM going to kill a nice Coues this year during the early archery hunt!

I heard they were thinking of creating that hunt. That would be AWESOME. I would definatley burn my max points for a hunt up there. If we get drawn, we'll make a hunt out of it for sure!

In the 60s we lived near Monterey and then it was a two deer area open to any one who cared to by a license and tags. In 64 or 65 Dad killed the biggest buck anyone could remember,,,, a three point, weighed in a gargantuan 90 pounds.

I reckon that would be a polywog comapared to your toad.

Take care

Hitch:

Sorry for the confusion, this buck is not mine....it was simply shot in the unit I was drawn for to show what is possible from the unit. I could only wish for a buck of this caliber.....a 39" monster non-typical with UNREAL mass.

Hey BOHNTR,

I replied to the other post that you posted up, "calling all MM member" anyways I asked how the draws treated you this year, I guess this topic pretty much answers my question.

A very big Congrats!

Couldn't have happened to a better hunter!
